St. Augustine jobs is a door. Hanging, sealing, and adjusting doors is everyday work for the handyman who comes.

A St. Augustine standout

Door Installation and Repair in St. Augustine

Doors are the third most booked job in St. Augustine, close behind trim and repair lists. Salt air and summer humidity are hard on them. Wood swells, hinges rust, and a front door that sealed fine in January lets daylight in at the corner by July.

The handyman checks the door from the hinges to the sill before touching a plane. Long screws go into the framing, the strike moves so the latch catches, and the weatherstripping and threshold get reset so the cool air stays inside. A door past saving gets a new slab in the old frame or a new pre-hung unit, with the casing matched.

A patio slider we do not repair, but we can turn that opening into French doors. In the city's historic districts, an exterior door change usually needs the city's review first, and we will tell you at the estimate if yours does.

Faucets, toilets, and bathrooms

From a Faucet Swap to a Full St. Augustine Bathroom Remodel

Faucet and toilet swaps come up in St. Augustine more than in most of the towns we cover. Often the new faucet is already in the garage, and it just needs someone to put it in. The handyman shuts off the water, sets the new one, checks for drips, and hauls the old one away. A toilet gets a new wax seal and sits level, so it does not rock.

When the whole bathroom is ready for a change, the same company can do it. Our licensed team replaces the vanity, the tile, and the tub or shower, and can turn a tub into a walk-in shower. Most bathroom remodels take one to two weeks, and you approve the full price in writing before anything is ordered. Plumbing behind the wall goes to a licensed plumber.

  • Kitchen and bath faucets replaced with the one you picked
  • Toilets reset or replaced on the existing flange
  • Shower heads and tub spouts swapped
  • Grab bars set into solid backing
  • Vanities, tile, and showers replaced in a remodel

Floors and baseboard

New Plank Floors and Baseboard, for a Home or a Small Office

Flooring is a smaller part of our St. Augustine work, and a request from the south side of town shows how it usually goes. The material is often bought already. What the owner needs is someone to lay it flat and finish the edges so it looks done.

Over concrete, click-lock vinyl plank floats on an underlayment, so the slab has to be flat and dry first. The handyman checks it, lays the plank with an expansion gap at the walls, and then sets new baseboard to cover that gap. Door casings get undercut so the plank slides under, not up against them.

A recent St. Augustine request

An owner had a small office with a new concrete floor and wanted click-lock vinyl plank laid over it, then basic baseboard, both already bought from the store. That is no trouble at all. We check the slab for flat and for moisture first, lay the plank, and finish the baseboard on the same written price.

“I had a great experience and would highly recommend them. From start to finish, the entire team went above and beyond. Brian, the project manager, came out initially and took the time to carefully walk through everything that needed to be done, which I really appreciated. Tyler, the operations manager, kept me in the loop the entire time and made sure I always knew when the team would be arriving each day, they worked consistently over 6 days and communication was always clear and reliable. Adrian, the handyman, was exceptional. He showed up on time every single day, was professional, and did excellent work across the board. We had multiple projects done, including toilet replacements, shower fixture updates, drywall patching, and painting, and everything was completed with great attention to detail and in a timely manner. Historic District or World Golf Village: Who Issues the Permit

Inside the City of St. Augustine, the city issues building permits. In its historic preservation districts, the old Spanish colonial streets downtown among them, most exterior work needs a Certificate of Appropriateness from the city's architectural review board before a permit is issued. St. Augustine Beach, on Anastasia Island, is a city of its own. Much of the area with a St. Augustine address, including World Golf Village and Palencia, is unincorporated St. Johns County, and the county issues permits there. We pull any permit under our own licenses.

About half of our St. Augustine jobs are in 32092 around World Golf Village and State Road 16. The rest spread across 32095 to the north, 32080 on the island, 32086 to the south, and 32084 in town. The handyman comes from our Jacksonville office straight down Philips Highway, which is US 1, or down I-95 to International Golf Parkway. The same team covers St. Augustine Beach and Crescent Beach on the island, plus St. Johns, Ponte Vedra Beach, and Palm Valley.

St. Augustine Questions, Answered

Who is the best handyman in St. Augustine, FL?

The Handyman Company has repaired Florida homes since 1999 and sends its own employee craftsmen to St. Augustine from its Jacksonville office at 6900 Philips Highway #35. It holds Florida certified contractor licenses CRC1336072 and CBC1258366. Jacksonville customers rate the office 4.6 stars across 238 Google reviews. About one St. Augustine job in seven is a door, so the handyman knows how ocean air throws them off. The estimate is free, the price is in writing before work starts, and every job carries a one year warranty.

Does a handyman in historic Saint Augustine need city approval?

For exterior work inside the city's historic preservation districts, usually yes. A new door, window, or wood siding there needs a Certificate of Appropriateness before the city issues a permit. Interior repairs like drywall, trim, and faucet swaps do not. We will tell you at the estimate which side of that line your job sits on.

Do your St. Augustine handymen also paint?

Yes, inside and out. Our handymen paint rooms, hallways, trim, and doors, and they patch any drywall damage first so the finish is smooth. Exterior paint goes on trim, doors, and shutters that salt air has chalked. You pick the colors, and the painting is priced right alongside any repairs.

Can you repair stucco on a St. Augustine house?

We repair cracks and patches: a crack by a window, a chipped corner, or the stucco around a new door, textured and painted to match. Whole walls go to a stucco contractor. If water got behind the crack, we cut out any rotted wood under it first.

How does salt air affect St. Augustine homes?

It works on anything metal or wood near the coast. Door hinges and screen hardware rust, wood trim and siding soften where paint has failed, and stucco cracks let moisture in behind them. Most of it is a small repair if someone catches it early, and the handyman will point out what he sees while he is there.

Do you work in World Golf Village and Palencia?

Yes, often. About half of our St. Augustine work is in 32092 around World Golf Village, and the same team covers Palencia, Anastasia Island, and the neighborhoods south of town. We can usually schedule within a week, and a person calls you back within one business day.

Do you take small commercial jobs in St. Augustine?

Yes. Small offices and shops call us for a new floor, baseboard, a door that drags, or a list of fixes before opening day. We walk the property, talk through the scope, and put the project in writing first. Call (904) 567-8333 or send the details and photos through the form.
