The handyman, Randell Blaney, was punctual and thorough. The job turned out to be bigger than expected. He ended up having to rescreen the door manually instead of purchasing pre-made screens. Despite the extra time and effort, the price was reasonable. I would use them again.

The Outside Work We Handle

Florida is hard on a home's exterior in ways other states are not. Afternoon rain finds every soft spot, the sun cooks paint and wood, salt air corrodes hardware, and one storm season can hand you a repair list overnight. Staying ahead of it protects the house and heads off the expensive structural problems. We handle the outside work from the roofline trim down to the deck: soffit and fascia, wood rot, siding, screens, fences, gutters, doors, and windows.

After a storm, order matters. Wind damage hides. Uplift loosens soffit panels that look fine from the yard, water stains show up inside weeks later, and water behind siding turns into mold when nobody looks. Our crews assess the full extent, plan the repairs, and put the scope in writing, so small openings do not let the next rain in. Flooding and roof leaks bring other trades in first, and we will tell you plainly when your list starts with a roofer or a dry-out company instead of us.

Exterior Repairs That Protect the House and Its Value

Exterior repairs are also where a Florida house wins or loses on energy. Worn weatherstripping, tired caulk, and a door that no longer seals all leak conditioned air, and sealing them up is cheap work that pays for itself in comfort. When storm damage is on the list, we document as we go, photos and a written scope, so your insurance claim has the record it needs.

The rhythm that works here is simple: walk the exterior twice a year, press on the trim, clear the gutters, watch how water leaves the roofline, and close the small openings before summer. A house that gets that attention rides out storm season. A house that does not hands the next storm a head start.

If a storm just came through, call and describe what you see, and we will tell you what to do first. For everything else, pick the repair that matches what you are looking at, and if you are not sure, call anyway. Protecting the house is the goal, whichever crew turns out to be the right one.

Exterior & Storm Repairs: Common Questions

Who is the best company for exterior and storm repairs in Florida?

When the roofer leaves, The Handyman Company handles the rest of the exterior: soffit and fascia, gutters, fences, screens, rotted wood, doors, and the water-stained ceilings inside. Our crews have worked Florida storm seasons since 1999, they are employees rather than storm-chasing subcontractors, and the price is in writing with a one year warranty on the repair. Call 800-931-1106 and the estimate is free.

Do you repair storm and hurricane damage?

Yes, after the storm. We repair what wind and water damaged: soffit and fascia, screens, siding trim, fences, doors, decks, and the interior rebuild once any leak is fixed. Photograph everything before cleanup for your insurance, leave hazardous debris removal to the cleanup crews, and get the estimate scheduled early. Older homes can carry lead-era paint, so repairs there follow lead-safe practices. Roofing itself is a separate trade, and we will say so plainly when your damage needs a roofer first.

Do you repair roofs?

No. Roof repair and replacement is a roofer's trade, and a handful of blown-off shingles or an active roof leak is a roofer's fix, because only a roofer can tell whether a few shingles are the whole problem or the first sign of a bigger one. What we handle is the roofline trim (soffit and fascia), plus everything below the roof that a storm or slow leak damaged. If we look at your job and it needs a roofer, we will tell you before you spend anything.

What should I check on my home's exterior after high winds or hail?

Walk the yard and look up: lifted soffit panels, bent fascia, torn screens, cracks in siding or stucco, shingles on the ground, gutters pulling loose, and doors that suddenly stick. Stay off ladders and away from anything sagging or sparking; safety comes before any inspection. Photograph what you find, then have the full extent assessed before rain gets into the gaps. The inspection visit and the estimate are free.

How do I know if my wood trim is rotted or just needs paint?

Press on it. Wood that gives, flakes, or feels spongy has rot in it, and paint or wood filler over rot fails within a season. Our crews cut rot back to sound wood and rebuild the piece, and we will tell you honestly when a board only needs sanding and paint.

How fast can you come out after a storm?

The honest answer is that it depends on how much damage the storm left across the area. Calls get scheduled in the order they come in, and we will give you a real date instead of a guess. The estimate itself costs nothing, so getting on the list early is worth the call.

Do you fix sliding glass doors?

We convert them rather than repair them. A slider with a worn track or fogged glass usually fails again after a repair, so we convert the opening to French doors that seal and swing properly, and we weatherproof the opening while it is apart. It is one visit, and you get a door that closes like it should.
