The Handyman Company sent Gary to refurbish my walk-in closet and did an excellent job! Everything was timely and professionally done. When I mistakenly purchased the wrong hardware, Gary was more than glad to get the correct items to finish the job. I am very pleased with the results!

Tom was so friendly and easy to work with - he did an excellent job hanging our drapes, hanging ceiling fans, and hanging closet shelving, and he did it all with a smile and very positive attitude. We will definitely call again for work from Tom! Thank you!

Cleveland, one of Handyman's workers did a marvelous job hanging a bifold closet door and mounting a medicine cabinet in my bathroom! I would highly recommend this company based on his work!

The Handyman Company did a great job from beginning to end on the backsplash in my kitchen. Their communication was excellent, they showed up when they said they would and their workmanship was incredible. I had talked to a few companies prior and it was like pulling teeth trying to get those guys to follow up. The Handyman Company is run like a company is supposed to be run. I have already booked them for another job on my house and would recommend them to anyone looking for any type of work on their house.

What We Handle

Closet System Installation

Reach-in or walk-in, big-box kit or designer system: we assemble it square, anchor it to studs, and align every shelf and rod.

Garage Storage & Wall Systems

Slat walls, track systems, cabinets, and hooks, mounted to carry real weight: bikes, ladders, tools, coolers.

Pantry & Laundry Shelving

Wire or wood shelving replaced or added, so the hardest-working small rooms in the house hold more and show it better.

Overhead Garage Racks (Properly Anchored)

Ceiling racks put the seasonal load overhead, and they are only as good as their anchoring. We fasten into framing, not just drywall, every time.

Custom Built Shelving

Odd corners, sloped walls, deep closets: where no kit fits, we build simple, sturdy shelving to the space itself.

Demo & Haul-Away of Old Shelving

The sagging builder-grade wire comes out, the anchor holes get patched, and the wall is ready before the new system goes up.

We Install What You Already Bought

Here is an honest gap in the market. Plenty of companies will design and sell you an expensive custom storage system. Almost nobody wants to install the one you already bought. The boxes arrive, the instructions assume a perfectly flat wall with studs where the diagram says, and the whole project stalls in the garage it was supposed to organize.

That is the job we take. Our crews assemble and install closet systems, garage storage, pantry shelving, and wall organization, anchored into studs, set level, and solid under a full load. Where a kit will not fit the space, we build simple custom shelving that does. The estimate is free, the price is guaranteed in writing, and the work carries our one year warranty.

Call 800-931-1106, tell us what you bought or what you need built, and we will get it on the wall properly.

From Boxes on the Floor to Gear on the Wall

  1. 1

    Tell us what you have

The brand and system if you bought one, or the space and the stuff if you have not. Photos help us quote accurately, and we will say up front if what you bought will not fit where you want it.

  2. 2

Lay it out against the real wall

We find the studs, account for outlets, switches, and the water heater, and adjust the kit's diagram to the room that actually exists. This step is where most DIY installs go sideways.

  3. 3

    Assemble square, anchor to structure

Components built true, then fastened into studs and framing. Storage fails at the fasteners, not the shelves, so this is the part we are pickiest about.

  4. 4

    Level, load, and clean up

Rods and shelves aligned down the run, the system loaded to prove it holds, packaging hauled out, and old anchor holes patched.

Built for Florida

No basements in Florida, so the garage does the job

Up north, the basement absorbs everything a household accumulates. Florida homes sit on slabs, so all of it lands in the garage and the closets instead. The garage here is the basement, the workshop, the sports locker, and the hurricane-supply shelf all at once, and most were handed a single row of sagging wire shelving to do it with.

Snowbird households feel it hardest. For part of the year the garage has to swallow an entire household's worth of gear, and the car still needs its spot when storm season comes. Wall systems and properly anchored overhead racks are how a Florida garage does basement duty without giving up the parking space.

Kit, Track, Rack, or Custom

Four ways to get organized, and an honest word on where each one belongs.

Big-box closet kits

Genuinely good products whose reputation suffers from bad installs. The difference between wobbly and rock solid is stud anchoring and level assembly, which is exactly the part we are there for.

Track and slat wall systems

The right answer for garages that keep changing: hooks and shelves move season to season, but only if the rail line itself is dead level and lagged into studs from end to end.

Overhead racks

Ideal for the light, bulky, rarely touched layer: coolers, holiday bins, camping gear. They hang from ceiling framing or they do not go up, and the heaviest gear stays on the wall or the floor where it belongs.

Custom built shelving

For the alcoves, deep closets, and odd corners no kit was drawn for. Simple, sturdy, painted or not, built to the actual space instead of forcing the space to fit a box.

Closet & Garage Storage Installation: Common Questions

I already bought a closet system. Will you install just that?

Yes, and that is exactly the job this page is about. Bring us the boxes from any brand or big-box store and we will assemble it, anchor it to the studs, and level it. You do not have to buy anything through us to get it installed right.

Do you design and sell storage systems too?

No. Designing and selling systems is other companies' business, and they are welcome to it. We install what you bought, and where a kit will not fit the space, we build simple custom shelving that will.

Can my garage walls and ceiling actually hold heavy storage?

They can when the load goes into the framing. We find the studs and ceiling structure and anchor there, never into bare drywall. If a spot cannot safely carry what you want to hang, we say so and find a spot that can.

How much does storage installation cost?

The system, the space, and the wall prep set the price. Tell us what you bought, or what you need built, and you get a single written number for getting it on the wall properly. You know the full cost before the first hole gets drilled.

Will you remove the old wire shelving first?

Yes. Demo and haul-away are part of the job if you want them, and we patch the old anchor holes so the new system goes onto a clean wall instead of over the scars of the last one.

What if the kit is missing parts or the instructions are bad?

Welcome to storage kits. Our crews have assembled enough of them to work through vague instructions, and if a part is genuinely missing we will tell you exactly what to order and come back to finish once it arrives.
