“Installation of ceiling fans, chandelier, closet, laundry room and pantry shelving. Hanging of decor, floating shelves and headboard, drapery rod installation, carpet and wallpaper removal. Kevin was professional, knowledgeable and polite. Will definitely recommend to others.”
“Super easy and reasonable. Called on 3 July for soffit and floodlight work on my 2 story house, quote on 5 July, work complete 8 July. Super for a holiday weekend. Cleveland even arrived an hour early on Monday!”
“Small job to change a ballast in a light unless you have a fractured neck. Unfortunately I do have this ortho. problem and can't look up. The young man was prompt polite and efficient. Thanks”
“The Handyman Company did a great job from beginning to end on the backsplash in my kitchen. Their communication was excellent, they showed up when they said they would and their workmanship was incredible. I had talked to a few companies prior and it was like pulling teeth trying to get those guys to follow up. The Handyman Company is run like a company is supposed to be run. I have already booked them for another job on my house and would recommend them to anyone looking for any type of work on their house.”
“Hi Brian, stop by and he was very helpful in solving my door problem thanks for your service”
“On time, price as quoted and went the extra mile. Easy and efficient. Would use the service again.”
“I needed several openings around outdoor lights sealed. They did an excellent job and it was reasonably priced. Very happy with their work!”
“Great service and the repair was done to my satisfaction.”
“Very prompt, helpful and thorough. It’s not cheap, but you get quality work”
“David Becerra and his crew are highly skilled and very hard working people. They are diligent, trustworthy and very competitive in terms of pricing. I recommend them.”
What We Handle
Fixture Swaps
Old fixture down, new fixture up, hung level and wired correctly. The fastest way to update a room without opening a paint can.
Chandeliers & Pendants
Heavy and awkward is our department. We hang chandeliers and pendants at the right height, on hardware rated for the weight, and level from every angle.
Vanity & Bathroom Lighting
Vanity bars and sconces mounted straight, centered on the mirror, and at a height that lights faces instead of foreheads.
Recessed Trim Swaps
Yellowed or dated recessed trims swapped for clean new ones in existing housings, an easy refresh for a whole ceiling.
Outdoor & Entry Fixtures
Corroded coach lights and porch fixtures replaced with wet-location fixtures that can stand up to Florida weather, sealed properly against the wall.
Dimmers & Switches
Like-for-like swaps of switches for dimmers and worn switches for new ones, at the existing switch location.
The Cheapest Way to Update a Room
Nothing dates a house like its light fixtures. The brass dome in the hallway, the flickering fluorescent box over the kitchen, the builder-grade vanity bar that makes everyone look tired. Swapping them is one of the cheapest ways to make a home feel current, and it is exactly the job that sits on the to-do list for years because nobody wants to stand on a ladder holding a chandelier.
The Handyman Company hangs lighting across Florida from six local offices. We swap dated fixtures for new ones, hang chandeliers and pendants dead level at the right height, mount vanity lights straight and centered, and add closet and entry lighting where the house is dark. Every fixture gets secured to a box that can carry it, the wiring connections are made properly, and the packaging and old fixtures leave with us.
Gather up everything you have been meaning to change and we will work the whole list in as few visits as possible, with the price in writing first and our one year warranty on the work.

What Moves a Lighting Estimate
Fixture swaps are honest work to price. These are the things that actually change the number.
Fixture weight and size
A vanity bar is a straightforward swap. A dining room chandelier is careful assembly, a rated-box check, and patient leveling, so it carries more labor than its box suggests.
Ceiling and ladder height
Fixtures over stairs and in two-story entries need staging and serious ladder work, which is exactly why those are the swaps that sit on to-do lists for years.
How many fixtures are on the list
Much of the cost of a single swap is getting a craftsman to your door. Adding the hallway, the bedrooms, and the porch lights to the same visit is the cheapest way to buy this work.
What we find behind the old fixture
Older homes sometimes hide brittle connections or an undersized box behind a fixture. When that happens we show you, price the fix honestly, and never just cover it back up.
Built for Florida
What Florida does to light fixtures
Outdoor fixtures take the worst of it. Salt air near the coast pits and corrodes cheap finishes in a few seasons, summer humidity fogs the glass and rusts the fasteners, and the sun chalks the housing. When the coach lights by the front door look rougher than the house, the fix is a wet-location fixture with a finish made for this climate, installed with the mounting sealed so storm rain cannot get behind it.
Inside, Florida's building booms left whole neighborhoods wearing the same dated builder packages: brass domes in the halls, fluorescent boxes in the kitchens, and vanity bars from whichever decade the subdivision went up. Because every house on the street got the same fixtures, swapping yours is one of the few updates guests genuinely notice the moment they walk in.
Before Install Day, a Short List
- Have every fixture on site. We install what you picked, and having all the boxes there is what lets the whole list get done in one visit.
- Know your heights, or let us pick. Over a dining table, in an entry, beside a mirror: if you have a preference, say it before the fixture goes up. If not, we hang it where it lights right.
- Point out any switch that misbehaves. A flicker sometimes lives in the switch, not the fixture, and a like-for-like swap while we are there is quick.
- Flag the dark spots. Where a box and switch already exist we can add a fixture. Where wire would need to be run, we will say plainly that an electrician comes first.
- Think about dimmers. Dining rooms and bedrooms are almost always happier on one, and it is an easy add at the existing switch.

Lighting & Fixture Installation: Common Questions
I already bought the fixtures. Will you install them?
Yes, that is the most common version of this job. You pick the fixtures, we hang them level, secure, and wired correctly. If something you bought will not work in the spot you have planned, we will tell you before we open the box.
Can you hang a heavy chandelier, like over a stairway or dining table?
Yes. Heavy fixtures need a box and hardware rated for the weight, and stairway installs need proper ladder work, both of which we bring. We hang it at the right height, level it, and make sure it is anchored to structure that can hold it for good.
Is this handyman work or electrician work?
Swapping a fixture, dimmer, or switch at an existing box is handyman work, and it is our bread and butter. New circuits, new switch locations that need wire run, and anything at the panel belong to a licensed electrician. If your project crosses into that territory, we will say so up front rather than work past our scope.
Can you add a light where there has never been one?
If there is an existing box and switch, yes. If the spot needs new wiring run to it, that portion is electrician work, and we will tell you exactly where the line is so you can sequence the trades correctly. Once the wiring exists, we handle the fixture.
What does fixture installation cost?
The fixture itself sets the pace: a hallway flush mount is quick, a stairway chandelier is not. Count your fixtures, tell us the ceiling situations, and we will put one written number on the lot before any ladder opens. Looking costs nothing.
Do you haul away the old fixtures?
Yes. Old fixtures, packaging, and every wire nut and screw that hit the floor leave with us. The only evidence we were there should be the new lights.
