Your Handyman in Jacksonville, FL, From Our Office on Philips Highway

Need a handyman in Jacksonville, FL? We would be glad to help with any home repair on your list. The Handyman Company runs its Jacksonville handyman services from its office at 6900 Philips Highway #35, and the craftsmen who come to your door work for us. They are not subcontractors or strangers for the day. The company has repaired Florida homes since 1999 and holds state contractor licenses CRC1336072 and CBC1258366.

Every job starts with a free estimate. You get the price in writing before work begins, and the quote you approve is the bill you get. A person answers when you call (904) 567-8333, and if you leave a message, we call back within one business day. Every finished job carries a one year warranty, and if something we did is not right, we come back and make it right.

Jacksonville and Duval County have shared one government since 1968, so most permits here come from the City of Jacksonville Building Inspection Division. Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, and Neptune Beach run their own building departments. When a job needs a permit, we pull it under our own licenses, wherever the house sits.

What Jacksonville books most

Carpentry, Doors, and Drywall Lead the Jacksonville List

Carpentry is about a third of the work Jacksonville homeowners book with our office, and mixed handyman lists are about a quarter. Drywall repair comes next at about one job in nine, then doors at about one in ten. A door that drags or will not latch is an everyday visit for this team.

The carpentry is mostly finish work: baseboard and crown molding, door casing, stair and railing repairs, built-in shelves, and trim that rot or termites got to. A carpenter from this office carries the saw and the trim stock on the truck, so each piece is cut to fit in your hallway, not guessed at somewhere else.

Drywall repair in Jacksonville runs from a doorknob hole in a newer Southside home to cracked plaster in an older house in Riverside or Avondale. The handyman matches the texture and paints it out so you cannot find the patch. Interior painting for the whole room can ride along on the same written price.

Home remodeling, bath, and tile

Bathroom Remodeling in Jacksonville, FL, in One to Two Weeks

About one Jacksonville job in twenty is a bathroom remodel, and whole-room remodels come up here more than in most of our offices. Most start with a bathroom that works but looks tired: a dated vanity, cracked floor tile, a tub nobody uses.

Our handymen take out the old and put in the new: the vanity and top, the toilet, the floor tile, the shower walls, the light over the mirror, and grab bars set into solid backing. A tub can become a walk-in shower with a low curb. Tile installation is part of most of these jobs, from the shower walls to the floor.

Most bathroom remodels take one to two weeks, start to finish, and the rest of the house stays usable while we work. The full price is in writing before the first tile comes up. When the job needs a permit, we pull it under our licenses, and the one year warranty covers the finished room.

Duval County and beyond

From Ortega to Oceanway, the Houses Our Jacksonville Handymen Know

Jacksonville is the largest city by land area in the contiguous United States and the heart of Northeast Florida, and our work is spread across all of it. No single ZIP code holds more than about one job in sixteen. The ZIP codes we visit most are 32256 around Baymeadows and Deerwood, 32218 on the Northside around Oceanway, 32225 in Arlington and Fort Caroline, 32210 on the Westside around Ortega and Argyle, 32216 near our office, and 32246 along Kernan and Hodges Boulevards.

Each side of town brings its own work. Older homes in Riverside, Avondale, and San Marco bring plaster repairs, sagging doors, and trim that takes a patient hand. Arlington is known for its mid-century houses, where a door or trim update has to fit the style. Out at the Beaches and Ponte Vedra Beach, salt air wears out door hardware, light fixtures, soffit, and fascia faster, and humid summers everywhere lead to wood rot repair and stucco repair around doors and sills.

Our handymen drive to the towns around Jacksonville too. St. Johns handyman services cover the 32259 neighborhoods south of Julington Creek, where doors come up more than almost anywhere we work. Middleburg handyman services reach Clay County down Blanding Boulevard. Orange Park, Fleming Island, Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Augustine Beach, and the surrounding communities of greater Jacksonville are on the list as well.

Homes, rentals, and businesses

Landlords, Businesses, and What a Visit Looks Like

Jacksonville landlords and property managers hire the same team homeowners do. A rental turnover gets one visit and one list: drywall patches, a door that will not latch, fresh paint, new light fixtures. Businesses get the same trade work, scheduled around business hours, through our commercial handyman services, with the insurance certificate ready for the property file.

Here is the entire process. You call or send the form, with photos if you have them. A person calls back to set a time, and we can usually schedule within a week. The craftsman looks at the whole list, writes one price, and starts once you approve it. When the job is done, you walk it with the handyman before they leave.

April is our busiest month in Jacksonville, and spring into summer stays busy. A list sent in March gets the earliest dates, and we would be glad to see yours whenever it is ready.

The Work Our Jacksonville Handymen Field Most

Entry Doors, Door Installation, and Door Replacement

Many homeowners first call about a door that rubs, drifts open, or will not latch. The fix is usually longer hinge screws into the framing, a shim, and a strike plate moved so the latch catches clean. Entry doors get the same care: a front door that lets daylight in at the corner gets new weatherstripping and a threshold set right, so the air conditioning stays inside.

When a door is past saving, our team hangs a new slab in the old frame or sets a new pre-hung unit, interior or exterior, then matches the casing and paints it. We do not repair sliding patio doors, but we can turn that opening into [French doors](/services/french-door-conversion). Near the ocean, we replace the hinges and locksets that salt air has corroded.

Interior Painting, From Painters Who Fix the Wall First

Across the company, interior painting outnumbers exterior about two to one, and most of it follows a repair. Our painters patch the holes, sand the seams, and prime the stains before a drop of color goes on. Older plaster in Riverside and Avondale gets skim coats and careful prep, and in houses old enough for lead-era paint, we do not sand everything in sight.

You pick the colors, and we move the furniture, cover the floors, and cut clean lines at the ceiling and trim. One room or the whole interior goes on one written price.

Stucco Repair and Wood Rot Repair

Stucco repairs outnumber siding repairs about three to one across our offices. A hairline crack by a window drinks every rain. We cut it back, patch and texture it to match, and paint it so it disappears.

Wood rot shows up on fascia, door jambs, window sills, and porch posts. The handyman cuts out the soft wood back to sound material, rebuilds it, seals the edges, and paints it, ideally before hurricane season. If a roof leak caused the damage, the roofer fixes the roof first, and we repair the wood after.

More about Door Repair & Installation

Flooring Installation and Tile Work

Tile is the flooring we install most, then laminate, then wood. Our handymen lay a room or a whole floor, undercut the door casings so the new floor slides under clean, and reset the baseboard to meet it. Tile installation for a backsplash, a shower wall, or a cracked floor tile by the patio door is a common add-on to a flooring job.

More about Ceiling Fan Installation

Ceiling Fan Installation, Light Fixtures, and Home Maintenance

Ceiling fan installation and light fixture swaps are the small jobs that ride along on almost any visit, along with the general home maintenance a Florida house asks for: caulk at the tub, weatherstripping at the door, a leaky faucet swapped for a new one. Small fixes now keep them from turning into costly repairs later. We hang the new fan or fixture on the existing box, like for like, and balance the fan so it does not wobble. Grab bars, shelving, curtain rods, and a heavy mirror or TV go up into the studs.

A toilet or shower head gets swapped for the one you picked, the same way. Anything behind the wall goes to a licensed plumber, and new wiring goes to an electrician. We say so at the estimate instead of guessing.

Deck Repair, Fence Repair, and Pressure Washing

Humid Jacksonville summers are hard on outdoor wood. [Deck repair](/services/deck-repair) means soft boards out, the framing underneath checked, railings made solid, and then deck sealing or staining so the surface can take the sun. [Fence repair](/services/fence-repair) resets leaning posts, replaces broken pickets, and rehangs the gate that drags.

[Pressure washing](/services/pressure-washing) of the driveway, the walks, and the siding is part of the same outdoor list, and it is a good way to see what needs paint before the next hurricane season.

Jacksonville Questions, Answered

Who is the best handyman in Jacksonville?

Carpentry and coastal repairs out at the Beaches are the backbone of the The Handyman Company Jacksonville office. Jacksonville customers rate the office 4.6 stars across 238 Google reviews. Our Philips Highway handymen are employees, licensed and insured, with a written price first and a one year warranty after, from Riverside and San Marco to Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine, and Orange Park. Call, and a person answers.

Where is your Jacksonville office, and when is it open?

We are at 6900 Philips Highway #35, Jacksonville, FL 32216, open daily 8 AM to 5 PM. A person answers when you call (904) 567-8333.

Which areas around Jacksonville do you cover?

All of Duval County and greater Jacksonville, including the Beaches, plus Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Johns, Orange Park, Fleming Island, Middleburg, and St. Augustine Beach. Our craftsmen live in the communities they work in. Not sure about your address? Call and we will tell you, no trouble at all.

What handyman jobs do you take on in Jacksonville?

Our handyman services in Jacksonville, FL run from minor repairs to larger projects like a full bathroom: carpentry, doors, drywall, painting, tile, flooring, fences, decks, rot repair, and the installs on your list. One handyman handles it instead of several contractors, and no job is too small to schedule.

Is a handyman or a licensed contractor better for my Jacksonville home?

It depends on the job. Florida has no handyman license, and small repairs under $2,500 need none. Anything structural, anything behind the wall, and any job that needs a permit calls for a licensed contractor. We are both: our own handymen for the small jobs and state contractor licenses CRC1336072 and CBC1258366 for the permitted ones. The Florida license rules explain where the line sits.

How long does a bathroom remodel take in Jacksonville?

Most take one to two weeks, start to finish, and it is the home remodeling job we book most in Jacksonville. A tub-to-shower conversion or a new vanity and floor can be quicker. You get the full price in writing first, and a person calls to set the start date.

Can you replace a front door in Jacksonville, FL?

Yes, and we would be glad to. Front and entry doors are everyday door installation work for this team. The handyman sets the new door in a new frame or the old one, fits the threshold and weatherstripping so it seals, and trims and paints the casing to match. A new door installed well closes with one finger and keeps the rain out.

My exterior fixtures keep corroding near the beach. Is that normal?

Within a few miles of the ocean, yes. Salt air ages fixtures, hinges, soffit, and fascia faster, and we replace a lot of it at Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach. When you pick the new fixtures, weather-resistant finishes hold up longest.

Can you fix a deck that feels soft and a door that sticks on the same visit?

Both, often in the same visit. Humidity swells doors and rots deck boards, so we plane and rehang the door, replace the soft boards, and check the joists underneath that let the rot start.

How do I book a Jacksonville handyman?

Call (904) 567-8333 or send the estimate form with your home repair list. The estimate is free, the price is guaranteed in writing, and if you leave a message we call back within one business day. Our own handymen handle everything from minor repairs to full remodels, and a one year warranty stands behind all of it.
